Motorola is refreshing its budget-focused Moto G series with the Moto G84. The device is 5G enabled and boasts a sleek design. Motorola has also revealed its colour options, which include a Pantone Viva Magenta — a first in the Rs 20,000 segment. Additionally, there are two cameras on the back and the phone features a pOLED display.

If you’re planning to buy a smartphone in the sub-Rs 20,000 option, there are already some great options including, Redmi 12 5G, Lava Agni 2, and Realme 11 5G, available on the market. Is the Moto G84 worth the wait? Let’s find out.

Moto G84 price in India

The Moto G84 is expected to offer two storage choices. The base model, which comes with 128GB storage, is anticipated to be priced at around Rs 20,000. Additionally, Motorola has announced a variant with 256GB storage, likely to be priced at Rs 22,000.

The colour options include white, black, and magenta. The black option features a PMMA finish, while the other two have a vegan leather finish. As mentioned, the phone will launch on September 1. It will also retail via Flipkart.

The Moto G84 carries a 6.55-inch pOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate and 1300 nits peak brightness. The pOLED technology is similar to the AMOLED display, though there are underlying differences in the composition. The pOLED tech also tries to reproduce deeper blacks and vivid colours. Motorola has also used pOLED displays on several budget and mid-budget phones.

The phone will likely draw power from a Snapdragon 695 SoC, which powers several other devices in this range. The Moto G84 also includes a 5,000mAh battery with 30W charging support. The box includes the charging brick.

The back includes two cameras — a 50-megapixel OIS camera and an 8-megapixel ultra-wide camera. Motorola has not added an additional macro or depth camera. Instead, the secondary camera can take macro photos.

Motorola also boasts its clean Android software experience. The Moto G84 ships with Android 13, though it will receive Android 14 update. It is also promised to receive three years of security updates. The phone will also bundle some proprietary apps and features, including Moto Connect.

Lastly, the Moto G84 carries Dolby Atmos-enabled speakers. There’s also support for “Moto Spatial sound” to offer a surround sound audio experience.
