WORLD ELEPHANT DAY :-

This August 12, World Elephant Day honors one of Earth’s most majestic beasts, personifying primeval beauty, theological significance, and environmental significance. Elephant populations have decreased considerably over the past ten years by 62%. By the end of the next ten years they may be mostly extinct.

100 African elephants are thought to be slaughtered by poachers each day. Thousands of elephants have been killed as a result of the demand for ivory in Asian markets. World Elephant Day was established to spread knowledge and spur action to protect these magnificent animals. World Elephant Day has touched millions of people since it was established in 2012 by Patricia Sims, the Elephant Reintroduction Foundation of Thailand, and more than 100 other groups dedicated to the conservation of elephants.
