The Asia Cup 2023 is due to begin on August 30, and Team India is fully prepared for the vital tournament, which may also set the tone for the next ODI World Cup 2023. Team India’s Asia Cup 2023 squad is undergoing a closed-door training camp in Alur, and yo-yo tests are also being undertaken to assess players’ fitness levels. Shubman Gill, a young sensation, outperformed Virat Kohli in the yo-yo fitness test.

“Because the yo-yo test is an aerobic endurance fitness test, the results may vary depending on when you last played and how much work you have done in the last week.” Gill now holds the highest score of 18.7. “The majority of the players have scored between 16.5 and 18,” a BCCI source familiar with the situation told PTI on condition of anonymity.

According to sources, all Indian cricket players who have taken the yo-yo fitness test up to this point have reached the qualifying mark of 16.5, demonstrating the seriousness with which Indian players take their fitness levels. Apart from Jasprit Bumrah, Prasidh Krishna, Tilak Varma, Sanju Samson, and KL Rahul, the majority of the players in the Asia Cup 2023 roster have completed their yo-yo fitness tests.

The results of yo-yo fitness are kept private, and players are not permitted to publish them on social networking platforms. According to The Indian Express, the BCCI is upset that Virat Kohli shared his yo-yo fitness test score of 17.2 on his Instagram account. The cricket administration verbally cautioned the players that posting such material on social media channels could result in a contract breach.
