The MPs from the newly formed Opposition brigade, the Indian National Developmental Inclusive Alliance (INDIA), will visit Manipur on July 29-30 and make recommendations to the Centre and Parliament for a solution.

On July 29 and 30, a group of 21 MPs from the recently established opposition coalition, the Indian National Developmental Inclusive Alliance (INDIA), will travel to Manipur to assess the situation there, where ethnic violence has cost more than 160 lives since May 3.

The group will submit suggestions to the Parliament and the Center for a fix to the issues in the violent state. The 26-party alliance INDIA has been pressing for a debate on Manipur in both Houses of Parliament as well as a statement from the prime minister regarding the circumstances there at the moment.

The conflict in the state bordering Myanmar started when the Kuki tribal group and the ethnic majority Meitei battled over the distribution of economic benefits and quotas allocated to the tribes.
