Andrew McCarthy, an American astronomer, claims to have photographed the southernmost portion of the Moon, where India’s Chandrayaan-3 mission’s Vikram lander landed on Wednesday. Mr McCarthy took to X (previously Twitter) to publish the detailed photograph of the Moon, which provided a glimpse into the difficult lunar surface where the Lander made its historic touchdown.

“I took a photo of the moon’s southernmost limb tonight.” The Vikram lander touched down here on Wednesday. “This is about as detailed as my telescope will allow,” Mr McCarthy wrote.

The astrophotographer posted the shot on Friday, and it has now received over 176,000 views and nearly 5,000 likes. While some people dubbed the image “brilliant,” others termed it “impressive” in the comments section.

“Excellent shot!! This demonstrates how difficult landing on this section is!! “Congratulations, @Isro,” one person said. “Infinitely fascinating.” Take a look at those crater holes.Nature never stops repeating itself. Shot that will leave you speechless. “Excellent work,” commented another.

Meanwhile, the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) posted a selfie video from the moon’s surface of India’s robots Vikram and Pragyan. lander Chandrayaan-3 As the Pragyan rover moved slowly, Vikram captured photographs and video of its ramp.”… and this is how the Chandrayaan-3 Rover works.”
