Russia-Ukraine War Intensifies as Kyiv Faces Fresh Drone Attacks
As the Russia-Ukraine war nears its third anniversary, Russian forces intensify assaults on Eastern Ukraine. Kyiv repels drone attacks, while Moscow claims gains in Donetsk.

Russia Advances in Eastern Ukraine Amid Escalating War
As the Russia-Ukraine war enters its third year, Russian forces continue their aggressive push in Eastern Ukraine, intensifying attacks on key Ukrainian cities. In the latest development, Russia launched a massive overnight drone strike on Kyiv, with Ukraine claiming to have shot down 67 out of 139 drones. Another 71 drones disappeared from radar before reaching their targets, according to Ukrainian officials.
Despite the aerial assault, no casualties or damages were reported in the capital. However, gunfire was heard as Kyiv’s air defense systems attempted to intercept the incoming threats.
Russia Releases Drone Footage of Donetsk Advances
Meanwhile, Russia has released drone footage allegedly showing aerial combat during its capture of Toretsk, a strategic mining town in the Donetsk region. The footage reportedly shows kamikaze drones striking large apartment blocks, reducing much of the urban landscape to rubble.
Moscow claims that Toretsk is the biggest Ukrainian town it has captured in recent months, further consolidating its territorial gains in the Donetsk region.
Zelensky Warns of Continued Russian Military Build-Up
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has sounded the alarm, warning that Russia is not preparing for peace negotiations but for a prolonged war. He stated:
“Russia is forming new divisions and expanding military production. Putin is not preparing for negotiations or peace, but for the continuation of the war.”
Earlier in the day, Zelensky also claimed that North Korean troops—previously reported to have withdrawn due to heavy losses—are back on the front lines in Russia’s Kursk region.
Ukraine’s Counteroffensive in Donetsk and Kursk
Ukraine’s military command confirmed ongoing battles in the Donetsk and Kursk regions, where Russian and North Korean soldiers have resumed assaults. Ukrainian forces claim to have eliminated hundreds of Russian and North Korean troops in the latest clashes.
Baltic States Cut Ties with Russian Power Grid
In a historic energy shift, Estonia, Latvia, and Lithuania have begun disconnecting from Russia’s power grid—a system that has linked them to Russia and Belarus since World War II. The move marks a strategic departure from Moscow’s energy influence, as the Baltic nations transition to the European Union’s power network.
