PM Modi Receives Russia's Highest Civilian Honour During Moscow Visit

Prime Minister Narendra Modi received Russia's most prestigious civilian honour, the Order of St. Andrew the Apostle the First-Called, on Tuesday. President Vladimir Putin bestowed this honour upon PM Modi in recognition of his exceptional efforts to promote partnership and friendship between India and Russia.

Upon receiving the honour, PM Modi expressed gratitude to President Putin and Russia, emphasizing that it was a 'samman' (honour) for 140 crore Indians and a testament to the enduring friendship between the two nations.

"India-Russia ties have significantly strengthened over the past 25 years under President Putin's leadership," Prime Minister Modi remarked. "We must further encourage and support people-to-people partnerships for a brighter future for the people of India and Russia."

Highlighting the critical nature of the India-Russia partnership, PM Modi added, "For peace and stability, concerted efforts must continue. We are committed to working steadfastly in this direction."

The Order of St. Andrew the Apostle the First-Called, established in 1698 by Tsar Peter the Great in honor of Saint Andrew, the patron saint of Russia and the first apostle of Jesus, was bestowed upon PM Modi. This prestigious award, conferred in a single class, recognizes extraordinary civilian or military merit. The ceremony took place at the grand Hall of the Order of Saint Andrew, historically used for important events such as the inauguration of Russian presidents.
