People all over the world celebrated the 9th International Yoga Day with live events today. Prime Minister Narendra Modi led the celebrations at the United Nations (UN) headquarters, which was attended by delegations from nearly 180 countries. Notably, an estimated 250 million people attended the event, which was themed ‘Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam,’ which translates to “One Earth. One Future. One Family.”

“In a remarkable achievement, Yoga enthusiasts from different parts of the world created a Guinness World Record at UN Headquarters today for the highest number of nationalities practising Yoga together. The feat achieved in the presence of PM @narendramodi Ji is a perfect ode to Yoga and the spirit of India’s inclusively,” tweets Union Home Minister Amit Shah.
“What a grand Yoga Day programme in New York! Grateful for the energy and commitment shown by all participants. This shows how Yoga unites us in the pursuit of health, peace, and harmony,” tweets PM Modi.
