US Vice President JD Vance Confronted by Pro-Ukrainian Protesters During Ski Trip
US Vice President JD Vance and his family abruptly ended their ski vacation in Vermont after facing backlash from a group of pro-Ukrainian protesters. The demonstration, which centered around accusations of Vance being a “traitor” and a “Putin’s puppet,” took place over the weekend as the Vice President approached the Sugar Bush Resort in Warren.

The protesters were vocal in their disapproval of Vance’s longstanding opposition to US funding for Ukraine amidst the ongoing Russian invasion. The demonstration was reportedly planned in advance, but gained momentum following a tense exchange in the Oval Office between Vance, President Donald Trump, and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky. During this exchange, Vance criticized Zelensky for countering Trump’s claims regarding Russian President Vladimir Putin’s trustworthiness.
Protests were staged at multiple locations around the area, including both sides of Route 100 in Westfield, where supporters chanted against Vance. A sign held by one protester read, "JD Vance has no friends in Vermont, but he’s got lots of them in Russia." In contrast, a small group of individuals showed up to express support for Vance and the Trump Administration, indicating a divided sentiment among the public.
In response to the escalating situation, Vance, along with his wife Usha and their three young children, relocated to an undisclosed location for their safety. Meanwhile, President Zelensky characterized his contentious relationship with Vance and Trump as temporary, suggesting that it might eventually improve. He also refrained from commenting on whether the Oval Office showdown had been orchestrated by the White House, expressing willingness to meet with the Trump Administration again if invited for constructive dialogue.
This incident highlights the growing tensions surrounding US foreign policy in Ukraine and the polarized views on the ongoing conflict with Russia, reflecting a significant divide in public opinion regarding support for Ukraine.
