Teen Arrested for Alleged ISIS-Linked Plot to Attack Michigan Military Base
A 19-year-old former member of the US Army National Guard has been arrested for allegedly planning a mass shooting at a military base in Michigan, as announced by the US Department of Justice. Amar Abdul Majid Muhammad Sed was apprehended on Wednesday, just hours before the scheduled attack on the US Army's tank automotive and armaments command facility at the Detroit Arsenal.

Details of the Alleged Plot
Sed reportedly recruited two individuals to assist in his attack, who were later revealed to be undercover law enforcement officers. During the preparations, he provided them with armor-piercing ammunition and magazines, conducted reconnaissance by flying a drone over the facility, and offered training in firearms and the construction of Molotov cocktails.
The timing of his arrest coincided with the planned execution of the attack, emphasizing the seriousness of the threat. Sed is charged with attempting to provide material support to the Islamic State of Iraq and Al-Sham (ISIS), facing a maximum penalty of 20 years in prison for each count.
Ongoing Investigations
The case is currently under investigation by the FBI's Joint Terrorism Task Force, highlighting the ongoing vigilance against domestic terrorism and the significant efforts by law enforcement to prevent potential attacks. This incident underscores the risks posed by individuals with military backgrounds who may turn to extremist ideologies.
