After almost seven months, the equity barometer the Sensex hit its fresh all-time high, supported by gains in select heavyweights, including Reliance Industries, HDFC twins, Power Grid, TCS, and Larsen & Toubro.

Sensex hit its fresh record high level of 63,588.31 in intraday trade before ending 195 points, or 0.31 percent, higher at 63,523.15 while the Nifty ended at 18,856.85, up 40 points, or 0.21 percent.

Nifty hit an intraday high of 18,875.90 and remained about 12 percent short of its all-time high of 18,887.60 which it hit on December 1, 2022.

The BSE Midcap index hit an all-time high of 28,745.47 before ending 0.68 percent higher at 28,635.61. The BSE Smallcap index also hit its all-time high of 32,765.32 before ending 0.24 percent higher at 32,577.35.

The market benchmark had been hovering around its previous all-time high level for the last couple of weeks.

The overall market capitalization of BSE-listed firms has risen to the level of 294 lakh crore. The cumulative market capitalization of the firms listed on the BSE stood at 289.9 lakh crore on December 1, 2022, the last time the equity benchmark Sensex reached its all-time high.
