Nandan Nilekani, co-founder and Chairman of Infosys and the founding Chairman of the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI), has contributed 315 crore to IIT Bombay.

This is in addition to his prior donations of Rs. 85 crore to his alma school. The gift will support world-class infrastructure, research in new fields of engineering and technology, and the development of a strong tech startup environment at the prestigious university.

According to a joint statement issued by the Institute and Mr. Nilekani on June 20, the donation, which is one of the largest made by an alumnus in the country, will serve as the anchor for IIT-B’s vision to become a global leader among engineering and technology institutes and contribute significantly to nation-building.
