In a show of support, BCCI President Jay Shah not only authorized the release of Rs 1 crore for Anshuman Gaekwad's treatment but also spoke directly with his family.
The BCCI has stepped forward to support former Indian cricketer and coach Anshuman Gaekwad in his fight against cancer. BCCI Secretary Jay Shah authorized the release of Rs 1 crore for Gaekwad's treatment and even spoke directly with his family to understand their situation.
This news comes as a relief for the cricket fraternity, especially Gaekwad's former teammates who had been actively fundraising for him. Cricket legends like Kapil Dev, Sunil Gavaskar, and Ravi Shastri were reportedly planning to contribute a portion of their BCCI pension towards Gaekwad's treatment.
Gaekwad, who played 40 Tests and 15 ODIs for India, had been undergoing treatment for blood cancer at King's College Hospital in London. He's currently continuing his treatment in Vadodara, India.
