According to an official tweet from Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman’s office, India’s GDP reached USD 3.75 trillion in 2023, up from about USD 2 trillion in 2014, making the country a bright point in the global economy.

According to the Finance Ministry’s tweet, India’s economy is the fifth biggest in the world, with a GDP of USD 3,737 billion at current prices, trailing the United States’ USD 26,854 billion, China’s USD 19,374 billion, and Germany’s USD 4,309 billion.

At current rates, India’s GDP exceeds that of the United Kingdom ($3,159 billion), France ($2,924 billion), Canada ($2,089 billion), Russia ($1,840 billion), and Australia ($1,550 billion).

“India’s GDP has reached $3.75 trillion in 2023, up from around $2 trillion in 2014; moving from 10th to 5th largest economy in the world,” said the tweet. India is presently being referred to be a “Bright Spot in the Global Economy.”
