Lord Karan Bilimoria, a British Parliamentarian, predicts that India would overtake the United States as the world’s greatest economy by 2060. India has surpassed the United Kingdom to become the world’s fifth largest economy, he declared recently at the Investiture Ceremony of his alma mater, Hyderabad Public School (HPS), Begumpet.
“The entire world is watching India. Without a doubt, India will soon become one of the world’s three superpowers. Within the next 25 years, India will have a GDP of 32 trillion dollars and will be the world’s second largest economy. “I’ll go a step further: I believe India will be the world’s largest economy by 2060,” Bilimoria, a member of the Britain’s House of Lords, told PTI. He expressed hope that the India-UK free trade agreement being discussed is “imminent”.
According to the UK legislator, trade between the two countries is steadily rising and now exceeds 30 billion pounds each year. “However, I believe that is only scratching the surface.” I believe we could achieve more than that.”
Recalling the successful visit of a UK parliamentary delegation headed by him to India in April this year, he said large delegations of business leaders, members of the press, cabinet officials, and university leaders should be resumed. He also stated that UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak should lead a large group to India.
According to him, the 1.7 million individuals of Indian ancestry who live in the UK are the “living bridge” with India, and it is a most successful minority population in the UK, including the Prime Minister of Indian origin as well as many prominent leaders in business and other fields of life. Lord Bilimoria, the founder of Cobra Beer, also stated that he would like to relaunch the beverage in India “as soon as possible.”
