Hybrid Parameters (h – Parameters):

The hybrid parameters represent a mixed or hybrid relation between the voltage and the current in the two-port network.

The hybrid parameters matrix may be written as

h11 and h21 can be calculated by short circuit port-2

h12 and h22 can be calculated by open circuit port-1

The h-parameters can be defined in a similar manner and are commonly used in some electronic circuit analysis.

As the h-parameters are dimensionally mixed, they are also named mixed parameters. Transistor circuit models are generally represented by these parameters, as the input impedance (h,,) and the short-circuit current gain (h) can be easily measured by making the output short-circuited.
