The Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways, Nitin Gadkari, is set to lay the foundation stone of a significant infrastructure project in Karnal. With an estimated cost of Rs 1,700 crore, the project involves the construction of a 34km long ring road encircling the city.

The ring road will be developed under the National Highway Authority of India’s Bharatmala Pariyojana. It will be a six-lane road, spanning 60 metres in width, and is expected to reduce traffic congestion and ease the load on National Highway 44.

The alignment of the ring road will connect Karnal Lake with Meerut Road, Kunjpura Road, Indri Road, and National Highway-44 near the Bastara toll plaza. The project’s funding will be divided equally between the state and central governments. This initiative aims to enhance connectivity and improve transportation infrastructure in the region, bringing long-term benefits to the residents of Karnal.
