Asia's Largest Tulip Garden in Srinagar Set to Open on March 26
Srinagar's stunning tulip garden, boasting over 1.7 million tulips across 74 varieties, is ready to welcome visitors starting March 26. This vibrant floral spectacle, situated against the backdrop of the Zabarwan Hills and the iconic Dal Lake, promises an enchanting experience for tourists.
A Floral Wonderland
As preparations ramp up for the opening, hundreds of dedicated gardeners are working tirelessly to ensure the garden is in full bloom. The floriculture department is planning a Tulip Spring Festival for April, showcasing the vibrant colors of various tulip varieties, alongside collections of daffodils, hyacinths, and muscari that will enhance the garden's visual appeal.
Expectations for Tourist Footfall
Last year, the garden attracted approximately 450,000 visitors, and authorities are optimistic that this figure will be surpassed in 2025. The increase in flower varieties and the garden's growing reputation as a must-visit destination are expected to draw even more tourists from across India and beyond.
A Historical Attraction
Established in 2008 by former Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad, the tulip garden was designed to boost tourism in the region. It has gained recognition as Asia's largest tulip garden, even earning a spot in the London World Book of Records. The anticipation for this year's bloom is palpable, with both locals and visitors eager to witness the spectacle.
With the garden's opening just around the corner, the vibrant tulip displays are set to create an unforgettable experience for all who visit, making Srinagar a key destination in the spring season.
