Anirudh Devgan is a well-known computer scientist and a graduate of Delhi’s esteemed Indian Institute of Technology (IIT). Currently, he serves as the CEO of the enormous software company Cadence Design Systems, which has a market value of more than Rs 5,25,000 crore ($64 billion).
Devgan made the decision to enter the business sector rather than sticking with his academic origins despite being reared on the IIT campus where his father was a professor. He attended the Delhi Public School (DPS) for his formal education before attending IIT Delhi to study electrical engineering. Devgan afterwards travelled from India to the US, where he attended Carnegie Mellon University for his master’s and PhD in electrical and computer engineering.
Anirudh Devgan started his career with the venerable IT giant IBM. Anirudh spent six years at Magma Design Automation following more than ten years of research and managerial work in several IBM divisions.
At Cadence, Devgan worked his way up to become president in 2017 before being promoted to CEO and board of directors in 2021. based in Silicon Valley Devgan became the first Indian CEO of a major American IT company, joining executives like Satya Nadella of Microsoft, Sundar Pichai of Google, Jayshree Ullal of Arista, and Arvind Krishna of IBM.
Devgan received a base salary of $725,000 when he was appointed CEO along with a target bonus of 125% of base pay. In addition, he received a $15 million promotion award stock option. Devgan received the esteemed Phil Kaufman Award in 2021.
