Four children under the age of five were murdered and five others were injured on Thursday after a wall of an unused factory collapsed on their temporary tents in Gujarat’s Panchmahal district due to heavy rainfall.

According to the police, the victims’ families are from Madhya Pradesh’s Dhar district and have relocated here to work as workers at a building site near an underused chemical factory in Chandrapura village in Halol taluka. Construction workers’ families were living in temporary tents next to the factory’s border wall, according to district superintendent of police Himanshu Solanki.

“During the rain, the wall suddenly collapsed on these families.” “Four children under the age of five died on the spot of the total nine people injured in the wall collapse,” he stated.

Five more people were taken to a hospital in Halol, including two ladies and two children. “Later, one of the injured was shifted to Vadodara for further treatment,” Solanki explained.

Chiriram Damor (5), Abhishek Bhuriya (4), Gungun Bhuriya (2), and Muskan Bhuriya (5) have been identified as the deceased children. Meanwhile, significant rain has fallen in numerous regions of south Gujarat in the previous 36 hours, with more predicted in the next two days, according to authorities. They said that Pardi taluka in Valsad district received 182 mm of rain in 36 hours ending at 6 a.m.
